Hello Corner friends,
This week, two readers left a five-star reviews of My Name is Kim, and one of them has stayed with me.
He wrote that he is a healthcare provider, a husband, a father of four, and the oldest child, someone who is always taking care of others, usually behind the scenes. On some days, he said, that can leave you feeling a little bit used. Then he quoted the book back to me: “Tiny leaves grow from my heart.” For him, it was the moment of reflecting on his family and the patients who become like family.
I have spent a lot of years caring for people, and I know that feeling well. I wrote Kim’s story hoping it would meet someone on an ordinary, tiring day and remind them that what they give does come back to them, sometimes as tiny leaves, sometimes as floodwaters that leaves you greener than before.
He wasn’t sure he had understood the book “completely right”. I don’t think there is a wrong way to be moved by it.
